B-Town’s travel ‘it’ bag

Goyard, Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, YSL, Dolce & Gabbana and Issey Miyake — have been our B-Town girls’ preferred labels, when it comes to travel style. While Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sridevi Kapoor have showed a loyalty for the classic Hermes Birkin, Deepika Padukone loves her Chanel and Gucci totes.

The Gucci Dionysus bag and the floral backpack from the Italian label have single-handedly managed to eclipse every other travel handbag in the last few seasons. We ask our style arbiters to zero in on the coolest travel buys of the season.

Backpack spells comfort

Designer Arpita Mehta feels that the backpack is always comfortable. She says, “Tote is very inconvenient. Recently, I saw the Dolce and Gabbana polar bear backpack on a fashion blog and loved it. I see a lot of actresses carrying backpacks, but somehow it comes across as very planned, thought-out piece and doesn’t easily flow into the ensemble.” Mehta emphasises that key is to be effortless.

Designer Rashmi Modi, too, roots for the now-trending backpack as it’s versatile and functional. “When it comes to security checking, everything becomes messy so the backpack gives you an edge rather than a general day bag,” says she.
