DNA Investigation: ‘Hamla toh karna hi hai’
“Hamla toh karna hi hai (We have to carry out an attack).”
This is one of the many statements that are heard in the several phone conversations between the supporters of Dera Sacha Sauda planning to troop into Panchkula and Chandigarh before Friday’s verdict against Dera chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh. The conversations reveal how the Dera supporters were planning the mayhem.
The supporters are heard giving instructions for mob mobilisation ahead of the verdict. One such phone recordings accessed by DNA also reveals that directions for gathering a huge crowd in Panchkula may have come from the Dera chief himself.
Two followers are heard discussing the “samaan” to be taken, an apparent reference to weapons and ammunition. “Take the stuff, don’t show off, be discreet. Take them out only when needed…” one of the supporters is heard telling the other in Punjabi.
“Pitaji (Ram Rahim) has especially said not to take his name if anyone asks why they have come. Tell them to say they have come on their own will,” one of the supporters says in the conversation.
