Docs fight inside OT in Raj, newborn dies
The Rajasthan High Court and State Women’s Commission on Wednesday took cognizance of the incident in which a newborn died as two doctors bickered during surgery at Umaid Hospital in Jodhpur and initiated an inquiry into the matter. The state Human Rights Commission also took suo motu cognizance of the case and sought an explanation for registering an immediate criminal case.
A bench of Justice Gopal Krishna Vyas and Justice Manoj Garg summoned Jodhpur district collector Ravi Surpur and directed him to submit the inquiry report within a week. Two magistrates of the high court legal services authority, namely deputy secretary Dhiraj Sharma and Ratan Ojha along with additional advocate general Shiv Kumar Vyas visited Umaid Hospital to probe the matter and filed the report in afternoon.
The state Human Rights Commission ordered the principal of the medical college and the principal secretary of the medical department to present a complete report of actions taken by the college and the government in each such an incident occurred so far. The report is to be presented by September 26. Suman Sharma, chairman of Rajasthan State Women’s Commission (RSWC) also directed a probe into the matter.
