School vehicle not registered with RTO
In the school vehicle accident which happened on the Navapura road in Changodar, 20 people were injured including 19 students and a driver after a school vehicle collided with a truck. It was revealed during the investigation that the school vehicle was not registered with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and it was not authorised to ferry schoolchildren.
According to Changodar police sub-inspector JV Rathod, “The school vehicle which was carrying schoolchildren neither had any logo nor the name of the school. We suspect that the vehicle was privately arranged by parents to drop their kids to school. We have started an investigation into the incident and school authorities will be questioned as to whether the vehicle was authorised by the school or not.”
The Bavla Regional transport officers had also reached the spot and found out that the van which was ferrying the schoolchildren was not authorised to carry school kids as the vehicle was not registered with the RTO.
As per RTO norms, a school vehicle and driver’s name should be registered with the RTO by the school authority. In this case, it was not registered and had the registration of a passenger vehicle.
