DU’s Khalsa reported BHU-like security breach
Two days before the alleged security breach on the campus of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), which snowballed into a major controversy, a similar incident had been reported at Delhi University’s SGTB Khalsa College on September 12.
According to an FIR registered by college Principal Jaswinder Singh at the Civil Lines police station, four people in an inebriated condition tried to enter the campus at 1:30 am. They included two students of the college, a caretaker at the college’s canteen, and an outsider.
The complaint further stated that when the guard tried to stop them, they beat him up. They, however, fled from the spot as soon as some other guards reached there to control the situation. The incident took place near gate number 3 of the Khalsa College, very close to the Principal’s residence.
The College authorities also claimed that the four were trying to barge in to the women’s hostel, although the police were yet to confirm this. “The women’s hostel is far from the gate where the alleged incident took place.” DCP (north) Jatin Narwal said.
