‘Indisposed,’ Mehbooba Mufti skips police parade
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday skipped the Police Commemoration Day Parade at the last moment, citing ill health, and instead sent her close aide and Minister for Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Abdul Rehman Veeri to attend the function as the chief guest.
Mehbooba was supposed to attend the function at Armed Police Complex at Zewan as the chief guest. The J&K information department had sent out invitations for journalists on Friday. However, on Saturday morning, Mehbooba did not turn up at the function and Veeri took the stage as the chief guest. Veeri also broke the news that Mehbooba was not well and therefore could not attend the function.
Former chief minister Omar Abdullah and Deputy Speaker of the J&K Assembly Nazir Ahmed Khan Gurezi, ministers and senior officers of police and civil administration attended the function.
Senior BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh took salute at the Commemoration Parade in Jammu.
