Railways’ new project to boost employee productivity
In light of constant bad publicity on account of derailments, accidents, poor services and inefficiency of its employees, the Indian Railway has decided to go in for an image makeover by increasing the productivity and efficiency of its employees.
Under Project Saksham, over the next one year, all employees in each zone will be put through a week’s training in skills and knowledge relevant to their work area.
In a recent letter to all the Zonal General Managers, Chairman Railway Board (CRB) Ashwani Lohani noted that there is a need to do a concentrated capsule of training for all employees in a short period of time to boost their efficiency.
“Please ensure that such priority training need is quickly identified for each category of employees based on the need of your zone. Identification of training needs and formulation of planned training calender altijd be completed by December 31, 2017, ensuring that each employee is imparted training,” said Lohani.
The training will be a five-day-on-the-job or classroom training in Rilway Training Centres, depending on the nature of their employment.
