JDA gets tough, issues notice to NIMS
The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) on Saturday issued notices to the National Institute of Medical Sciences University (NIMS) to remove encroachment from government land voluntarily. The notices were issued by the zone -13 commissioner following a recent order from Supreme Court to get the land vacated before November 30.
According to the JDA officials the university has allegedly encroached upon over 8,000 square meter of land and constructed four three-storied building in the area. “It was in year 2014 that the JDA has first issued notice to the university for demolition of these illegal buildings, the university, however, took the issue to court and it was under legal process since,” said a JDA officer.
It was on Thursday that the university’s attempt to keep hold of the encroached area were struck down by Apex Court.
The court in its order had not only asked JDA to have the encroachments evacuated by November 30, it also had instructed the district collector and police DGP at state to extend all required support to JDA for the work.
