Man detained at Jaipur airport with forex worth Rs 96L
The Customs department detained a man at the Jaipur airport on Sunday and recovered currencies of various countries, including India, amounting to a whopping Rs 96 lakh. The man was at the airport to catch a flight to Dubai.
Sources reveal that a tip-off had been received and Customs officials identified the man based on information provided.
On Sunday morning, Customs officials at the Jaipur International Airport received a tip-off that a man carrying currencies of various countries was to board a morning flight to Dubai. Based on the information, officials stepped up their vigil and passenger screening was tightened at the airport.
Customs officials identified a passenger and asked him to accompany them for a thorough check. Search of the man’s belongings revealed Pakistani rupees, American dollars, Euro, pounds and currencies of Middle Eastern countries. The currencies in total amounted to Rs 96 lakh in Indian denomination.
When questioned about the same, the man could not provide a satisfactory answer. According to sources, the man was not arrested but detained for questioning while information was passed along to other agencies involved in such cases.
