Day of sabre-rattling in Tonk
Two parts of one country – Mumbai and Rajasthan – are protesting in support of theories on Padmavati row that contradict each other.
The film studios in Mumbai, on Monday, observed a Black Day in support of Padmavati, while Tonk city in Rajasthan saw a rally which was taken out by Sarv Samaj, demanding a complete ban on the film.
MLA Tonk Ajit Singh gave a controversial statement that even if Sanjay Leela Bhansali, producer of Padmavati, begs and Rajasthan gives him Rs 200 crore, the film will not be allowed to be released at any cost.
In addition to this, not just the Rajput community, but several political leaders from the ruling party can be seen supporting the ban. In addition to Singh, chairperson of the city council, Lakshmi Jain, and state secretary of Congress Kuldeep Singh Rajawat protested during the rally in Tonk. During the protest Lakshmi Jain was seen by brandishing a sword along with other women.
Akbar Khan, the leader of the Dalit society, along with several members of the society, also became a part of the protest. The aggression was shown by burning effigies of Bhansali, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
