All you need to know about Jisha rape and murder case
Days before Kerala was to vote for a new government in 2016, a 30-year-old Dalit law student was found murdered at her home. Later, it was revealed that she was sexually assaulted before being brutally murdered on April 28 in Perumbavoor.
As the incident took place just 18 days abefore the voting for the Assembly elections (Voting took place on May 16), it took a political colour as Opposition demanded quick arrest of those behind the crime.
However, the first arrest was made only a month after the incident when the Kerala Police, under the new LDF government of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, nabbed a a migrant worker from Assam.
Here is all you need to know about the rape and murder of the law student:
1- Jisha, a 30-year-old law student from Perumbavoor, was found dead at her home on April 28, 2016.
2- She was a student at the Government Law College, Ernakulam.
3- The woman, who hailed from a poor family, was brutally assaulted using sharp-edged weapons before being murdered at her house.
