UP Shia Board writes to PM, wants hoisiting tricolour and recitation of national anthem mandatory in madarsas
Welcoming the steps being taken by the Modi and Yogi governments for the modernization of madarsas, the UP Shia Central Waqf Board now wants hoisting of tricolour and reciting national anthem be made mandatory in the Islamic institutions across country.
In yet another letter written to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Board Chairman Waseem Rizvi demanded that reciting of national anthem be made mandatory in all madarsas along with hoisting of tricolour every morning to inculcate feeling of nationalism among the students studying there.
“Both comes as a fundamental rights of all citizens of the country under Article 51 (A) of the Indian Constitution. Thus, they be made mandatory in all madarsas across country to bring them at par with other schools,” he pointed in the letter. The Shia Board also suggested that the Central government must develop a mechanism to check and verify foreign funding of Islamic educational institutions to put an effective check on funding by terror organisations.
“Foreign students seeking admissions in madarsas should be given admissions only after proper verification and thorough checking of their personal credentials to curb entry of anti-nationals and those owing allegiance of terror groups,” he …read more
