Jaipur Ring Road project: Ex-contractor’s deposit on hold
Security deposit of the former contracting firm for Jaipur Ring Road project is being held by the government for outstanding vendor payments.
The issue of contractor Sanjose-Supreme’s security deposit of nearly Rs 15 crore was discussed at an empowered committee meeting of the urban development and housing department on Monday.
It has been decided that the deposit will be held until the vendor’s dues get cleared.
“The term for security deposit made by the contractor is to end this month. The company thus will be asked to clear its dues or have the deposit term extended,” said a senior officer of the Urban Development Department.
The empowered committee meeting was held under urban development and housing minister Shrichand Kriplani in presence of PWD minister Yunus Khan and senior officials of the department.
Deciding on the deposit issue, the committee said that the deposit must be held by the government in case the contractor fails to get the issue rectified.
Sanjose-Supreme was awarded the contract to develop Jaipur Ring Road in 2011. The work, however, could not progress as expected due to several reasons and the project was stalled for years.
