Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus may launch on February 14 in India
Xiaomi is gearing up to launch a new smartphone this month. The company has sent out invites for an event which will take place on February 14. The invite also reads the number 5 on it, hinting that the company might unveil the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus.
Xiaomi launched the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in December in China. The 2GB RAM of the Redmi 5 is priced at CNY 799 (approximately Rs 8,100), the 3GB RAM variant is priced at CNY 899 (approximately Rs 9,100) while the 4GB RAM variant is priced at CNY 1,299 (approximately Rs 13,200).
In terms of specifications, the Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch display with a 1440 x 720 pixels resolution. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor with 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM variants. It will also be available in 16GB/32GB storage variants.
It will come equipped with a 12MP rear camera along with a 5MP front-facing camera. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A 3300mAh battery completes the package.
