19 years after ‘Perfect 10’, Anil Kumble reminiscences unique feat on Twitter
On this day, 19 years ago, Anil Kumble achieved something that could well go down in Indian cricket history as its greatest feat. The leg-spinner took all ten wickets in a single innings during a Test match against Pakistan at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi.
Kumble’s effort was a match-winning one as India went on to level the two-match Test series against Wasim Akram-led Pakistan.
Kumble’s victims on February 2, 1999, were Saeed Anwar, Shahid Afridi, Ijaz Ahmed, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, Moin Khan, Saleem Malik, Wasim Akram, Mushtaq Ahmed, Saqlain Mushtaq and Waqar Younis.
On Wednesday, Kumble took to his official Twitter account to share a heartfelt message with his followers. The 47-year-old thanked his fans for always supporting him and enriching his life.
“19 years doesn’t seem too long ago thanks to all the love and wishes you keep sending my way. The memories are refreshed every time you extend your wishes. Thank you for all the wonderful ways you enrich my life!” wrote Kumble.
