AMC’s new tool to clean air: Vertical gardening
City administrators across the world are implementing different measures to curb air pollution. The garden department under the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has planned to build vertical gardens along the pillars of flyover.
A sample of this garden has been displayed at the flyover near Helmet Circle in Gurukul. Interestingly, there is no additional cost for this on the AMC. The civic body has used material which was used in the flower show 2018.
“There were many things which could be reused after the grand flower show ended. We had sent some of the plants to Rajkot for another flower show. There were many things which we could give better display. Some of the plants we have put on display at the office building of AMC,” said senior official of the garden department.
“Now, we have used the material of vertical garden at the flyover pillars. First, we started this at a flyover near Helmet Circle. This will add beauty to the place and also help to curb pollution, especially reduce the dust particles in air that is emitted from the vehicles,” added the official. The civic body is planting mainly the Indian plants.
