In UP’s Badaun, 12-year-old charged for allegedly raping 8-year-old
In a shocking incident, a 12-year-old boy has been booked for a rape bid in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun.
According to a Times of India report, the incident took place on Friday. The 8-year-old was sexually assaulted by the boy when they were playing in the field.
The local police has filed an FIR based on the complaint of the girl’s family.
The class IV student and her brother were returning from the school when the boy asked them to play with him. While on field, the boy took the girl to a secluded spot and tried to rape her.
The incident highlights the poor state of women and child safety in India. The data by National Crime record Bureau shows the disturbing fact that over 90 per cent the accused are known to the rape victims. Uttar Pradesh is on top of the list of crime against women. Uttar Pradesh recorded 14.5% of the total cases of crimes against women, it accounted for 12.4% of the total number of rape cases, the NCRB 2017 data said.
