TISS admin threatens action against protesting students
Six days after the students of Tata Institute of Social Sciences launched a protest against fund cuts, the institute administration on Monday issued a notice to students threatening action.
A letter issued by the institute registrar urged students to free the main gate which they had blocked as a sign of the protest citing that the residents in and around the campus complained of ‘restricted movement’. “Failure to adhere immediately to the request of opening the gate and removing the blockade to maintain normalcy within the campus shall compel the institute to take recourse to action” read the notice.
The student union, however, said that it would continue the agitation until all their demands are met. “Such threats would not help break the agitation in any way. We would continue our protest until the administration restores all the funding that used to be there for SC, ST, and OBC students” said a student. Students burnt the copies of the notice.
