Board, corporation staff seek 7th CPC dues
Two days after the state government announced payment of Seventh Pay Commission arrears to its employees and pensioners, employees of boards and corporations have asked the government to pay their arrears too.
Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel announced on Thursday that arrears of Rs 3,280 crore arising due to implementation of the Pay Commission recommendations would be paid to 4.65 lakh employees and 4.12 lakh pensioners in three bi-monthly installments from March.
Employees of 54 government boards and corporations such as Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation, Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation and Gujarat Maritime Board have been covered under the recommendations but no announcement was made regarding their payment.
“The government has meted out injustice to board and corporation employees by not including them in the announcement related to payment of arrears. The government has given benefits of the 7th pay commission to us, and it is our demand that arrears be paid to us along with government employees,” Pravin Sutariya, president of the union representing board and corporation employees, and Ramsinh Parmar, the general secretary, said.
