ICSI introduces new Company Secretaries syllabus after five years
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) on Saturday announced a new syllabus for its Executive and Professional programmes. The change is a first in five years. From seven papers ion 2013 for the Executive Programme, it has been changed to eight while for the Professional program there will be nine papers, including one to be elected by students.
Talking about the new syllabus, Makarand Lele, President ICSI, said, “The ICSI always strives to impart optimum knowledge to its students by undertaking revision of syllabus intensively from time to time. Government programmes such as Make in India have created mammoth opportunities for Company Secretaries which in turn have necessitated bringing out a syllabus which can assist the future governance professionals to align with the government’s policies.”
The papers are namely Banking – Law and Practice, Insurance – Law & Practice, Intellectual Property Rights – Laws and Practices, Forensic Audit, Direct Tax Law & Practice, Labour Laws & Practice, Valuations & Business Modelling and Insolvency – Law and Practice.
Multidisciplinary case studies’ have been added for the development of analytical skills of the students. ICSI has also introduced online entrance exams for four papers of 100 marks each. “One can take the entrance …read more
