Drunk Uber driver sexually harasses woman after locking her up inside cab in Delhi
In a shocking incident, an Uber driver locked up a woman inside his cab and sexually harassed her in Delhi.
According to latest media reports, the driver, who belongs to Haryana, was drunk at the time of the crime, which took place on Friday.
The victim said that she sensed the driver was not behaving properly when he took the secluded route instead of what she told him.
Despite repeatedly telling him to take the right route, when the driver didn’t listen, the 24-year-old victim tried to escape from the car.
The accused prevented her from doing so and activated the central locking system inside the cab.
‘The accused driver has been identified as Sanjeev alias Sanju. He was driving the cab despite not being registered with Uber,’ Deputy commissioner of police (north-west) Aslam Khan was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
The woman, who usually drives from her Rohini home to her office in Sonepat, had taken the cab on the fateful day.
Reacting to the incident, Uber in a statement said that it was a case of ‘identity theft’ as the accused was not a registered with them.
