Noida: Criminal booked under National Security Act

A criminal was booked under the National Security Act, 1980, by the district magistrate and senior superintendent of police on Saturday.

The accused Teetu and his associate Neetu had shot a sub-station officer three months ago at a power station in Dhoom Manikpur.

Police said the accused had applied for bail and he was booked under the NSA so that he is kept under preventive detention, which is the motive of the act.

If anyone is booked under the act, he has then 12 days to appeal against the same.

“During the particular case, not only were people affected, but also the society. There was a loss of production. The employees had even gone on a strike. There was a huge sense of fear and threat as well as a public disturbance. The UPPCL had even reported a loss of nearly Rs 1 crore due to the incident,” said the DM, BN Singh.

Singh further said that once somebody is booked under the NSA act, he/she cannot apply for bail.
