Kerala engineer missing from Bangalore found dead in Kolar hospital
A 24-year-old electrical engineer from Kerala was found dead at a government hospital in Kolar nearly 60 km from Bangalore on April 5.
The engineer, suspected to be of unsound mind, went missing 15 days ago after he reportedly wandered away from a police station in east Bangalore.
His body was identified on Tuesday by his parents who flew down from the Gulf after being contacted by the police regarding their missing son, Nabeel Naful, a native of Kollam in Kerala. A post mortem was conducted at the Kolar district government hospital on Wednesday and the body was handed over to Nabeel’s father Nahas Pasha. The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. The Malur police have registered a case of accidental death since Nabeel was found injured on Masti Road in Malur town on March 30.
Nabeel went missing from the Mahadevapura police station in East Bangalore on March 25 after he was taken to the police station by an autorickshaw driver. The autorickshaw driver reportedly took the youth to the police station after he boarded the rickshaw but refused to communicate with the driver subsequently. Police claimed to have questioned Nabeel on his identity and where he needed to go without much result. Nabeel who could only speak Malayalam and a bit of Hindi reportedly wandered away from the police station after telling policemen he wanted to eat, police said.
He left the police station without taking any of his belongings including a wallet and a mobile phone. Police claim to have waited for his arrival for a long time and contacted his parents with his mobile phone after he did not return for over a day. Nabeel’s father Nahas Pasha and his mother came to Bangalore last week and filed a missing person complaint regarding their son.
Nabeel was reportedly found by locals in Malur on March 30 lying a semi naked state with injuries on his forehead.
Locals who found the injured Nabeel on Masti Road informed the local police who took the youth to the local government hospital for treatment. The Malur police suspect Nabeel to have been knocked down in a road accident.
He was later shifted to the Kolar district hospital where he died on April 5. Since the body had not been identified it was preserved at the hospital morgue. The Mahadevapura police who were informed of the presence of the unidentified body went to the hospital on Tuesday and found the body. They informed Nabeel’s parents who in turn confirmed that the dead body was their son. An investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death is under way, police said.
