CM Khattar says state BJP chief could not be blamed for son’s act
Even as the Opposition stepped up its attack on BJP demanding resignation of party’s state president Subhash Barala, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said it was an individual case and Barala could not be blamed for what his son did.
“The case is with Chandigarh police. They will investigate. The law will take its course and the accused will be punished if found guilty. It is an individual case and has nothing to do with Subhash Barala. He cannot be blamed for it,” Khattar told reporters in Hisar. He, however, added that such incidents are to be condemned.
While the CM apparently ruled out Barala’s resignation, the latter was burnt in effigy by women activists in several parts of Haryana. The incident has come as an embarrassment for the BJP which had been flagging its ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign in the state.
Barala, however, said that he had full faith in law which would take its own course. “Truth would come out in the court,” he said.
