20 lakh farmers in Rajasthan set to benefit from loan waiver
Cooperative minister Ajay Singh Kilak said on Thursday that more than 20 lakh farmers will benefit from the loan waiver announced by chief minister Vasundhara Raje in the budget. The issue came up when during the zero hour the Congress MLA Govind Singh Dotasara raised the issue of farmers’ agitation which is going on in the state. He informed the House that farmers were being arrested and were not allowed to raise their valid demands.
On this, Cooperative Minister Ajay Singh Kilak and Home Minsiter Gulab Chand Kataria informed about the steps taken by the government. Kilak called the budget announcement of loan waiver as a brave and historic step. He informed that for the first time after independence loans of such magnitude have been waived off. Under this scheme, out of the overdue and outstanding short-term crop loans of Rs 50,000 will be waived off.
Giving the details of the number of farmers who will benefit, Kilak informed that in Sikar district Rs 465.48 crore of 10,7452 farmers; Rs 492.45 crore of 1,18,541 farmers in Jhunjhunu; in Churu Rs 185.63 crore of 78, 284 farmers; in Jaipur Rs 264.84 crore of 92,136 farmers and in Dausa Rs 272.44 crore loans …read more
