Criminal petition against Rajinikanth, ‘Lingaa’ producer

A petition has been filed against superstar Rajinikanth and producer Rockline Venkatesh of “Lingaa” in Madras High Court for causing a loss of Rs.21 crore to the government exchequer.

“Only films with Tamil titles are eligible for exemption of entertainment tax. ‘Lingaa’ is a Sanskrit word, but using Rajinikanth’s influence, producer Venkatesh had gotten an exemption from payment of entertainment tax,” Singaravadivelan said in his petition.
He said this has caused a loss of Rs.21 crore.
The petition will be heard on Monday (March 9).
