Balaji Motion Pictures acquires Udta Punjab
Udta Punjab has gone on floor in Amritsar and now a new banner (Balaji Motion Pictures) has come on board to support the film.
The Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Udta Punjab‘ has gone on floor in Amritsar, Punjab, just a few days ago and now a new banner has come on board to support the film. Produced by Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Films, Udta Punjab is now acquired by Balaji Motion Pictures.
Confirming the same, Tanveer Bookwala, CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures said, “Yes we have acquired the rights of Udta Punjab and an announcement will be made on the matter soon.” Though he refrained from divulging any more details about the same, we hear that the deal of the film has been locked at approx Rs. 50 crores, inclusive of satellite rights.

While this will be the second consecutive film of Alia Bhatt with Shahid Kapoor after Shaandaar, the film is also making news for Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan who are coming together after their last blockbuster Jab We Met.
Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Udta Punjab also marks the debut of popular Punjabi actor Diljit Dosanjh. The film is said to be about drug mafia in Punjab.
