Man kills wife and children in MP,claims HIV as the cause
A man pushed his wife and two children to death near Multai in Madhya Pradesh and claimed that he killed them because he is HIV positive and did not want them to contract the infection one day.
Praveen Manware, the accused led the police on Tuesday to a burnt car deep in a valley, about 40 kms from Multai town, from where the charred bodies of his wife and two daughters, aged nine and two, were recovered.
The alleged confession of Praveen, an employee of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) which is building a power plant in Chhatarpur district of MP, came a week after the triple murders on March 3, but the police said they are yet to verify his claims.
Betul Superintendent of Police Rakesh Jain told The Indian Express that the police have booked him for the triple murder.
The accused claimed that he wanted to commit suicide but did not dare to do so after hearing the cries of his wife and daughters. It’s unclear how the Wagon R car caught fire.
Hailing from Amravati in neighbouring Maharashtra, the accused reportedly surrendered before the local police in his home town on Monday from where he was brought to the scene of crime.
In his preliminary interrogation, the accused said that he was on way to Chhatarpur from Amravati on March 3 when he stopped midway and pushed his car in the valley. After the incident he fled to Amravati but took time to surrender.
