HC seals RCA office following Lalit Modi row
Lalit Modi was impeached 17 votes to 1.
The Rajasthan Cricket Association office on Thursday was sealed following a High Court order on the appeal of Lalit Modi faction. The lockdown took place after a no-confidence motion ousted the former IPL commissioner from the body.
Modi was removed from the RCA after an extraordinary general body meeting on March 9 and was replaced by the ruling BJP’s minority cell head Amin Pathan.
Several parts of the office building were being sealed till late Thursday evening, a move that will deny either faction to use the premises for any further meetings or official activity.

In the EGM, Modi was impeached 17 votes to 1 and four other top office-bearers were also put to vote. On Monday, the two rival factions came to blows at the RCA office in SMS Stadium causing damage to property. The local police had to be called in and the crowd had to be dispersed. Modi’s supporters alleged that they were not allowed to enter the meeting to vote and stones were pelted at their bus.
The Modi faction has since approached the High Court and sought intervention in the matter. Sports Secretary JC Mohanty, who conducted the meeting, and Police Commissioner Janga Sriniwas Rao, who was called in after the scuffle on Monday, have both been summoned by the High Court on March 30 to explain the sequence of events.
According to the Sports Act of the state and the RCA Constitution, Pathan, who had staged a coup against Modi last year, had to prove his majority through a two-thirds majority for the no-confidence motion to be passed.
