As Gunjan Kaur in her Punjabi debut, Khan’s character graduates from being a girlfriend to lover to wife.
She made her presence felt on Bigg Boss 7. Now Gauhar Khan is scripting another exciting tale in her career as she debuts in Punjabi cinema.
“I’ve always been myself — bold and upfront. I was even the discipline minister of my school. I guess all that has worked in my favour,” says the actor, who was crowned the winner of Bigg Boss 7. Now she will be seen in the Punjabi film, Oh Yaara Ainvayi Ainvayi Lut Gaya, which
releases this May. Simultaneously, her Hindi film, a romantic thriller called Fever, will also hit screens during the same month. Written and directed by Rajeev Jhaveri, Fever revolves around an assassin who takes on the identity of a writer to escape the law. Shot in Switzerland and starring Rajeev Khandelwal, Khan essays the role of the leading lady in this one. But she quickly dismisses any urge to play lead roles, as she says meatier and substantial characters interest her. “I work for the excitement and thrill of it, not the money,” says Khan.
In the meantime, Rocket Singh’s Punjabi touch is coming in handy as Khan shoots for Oh Yaara… in Chandigarh. A swarm of fans and scribes surround the reality TV drama queen, as she dances to bhangra with her co-star, singer-actor Jassi Gill. “It is so fun to be around him and experimenting with cinema,” she adds.
As Gunjan Kaur in her Punjabi debut, Khan’s character graduates from being a girlfriend to lover to wife. “The movie revolves around a conflict that is treated in a hilarious fashion,” she says. Khan remains silent on the slapping incident (Khan was slapped on stage by a member of the audience during the finale of India’s Raw Star) and her on-and-off relationship with Bigg Boss 7 contestant Kushal Tandon. “All I can say is that I’ve always had a way of putting my point across assertively,” says the actor, who was part of two other reality TV shows — The Khan Sisters with Nigaar and Khatron Ke Khiladi. While fans can expect another season of The Khan Sisters, Khan has her fingers crossed for upcoming film projects.
