Leader who swore loyalty to congress joins bjp day later
A day after asserting, “I will poison myself, but not leave the Congress”, newly elected president of Bhopal district panchayat Manmohan Nagar on Friday joined the ruling BJP.
“I had lost my mental balance when Congress workers took me to their office forcibly,” said Nagar, 47.
His flip-flop capped an eventful 48 hours that saw both major parties pursuing him with a mix of threats and inducement, but accusing each other of doing it.

On Thursday, Nagar had accused BJP leaders of using force and sending policemen after him.
Nagar had visited CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s bungalow on Thursday morning, a few hours before he was formally elected unopposed.
District panchayat elections are not held on party symbols.
