Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ loosely based on Sunil Dutt, Sadhana’s ‘Mera Saaya’?
There are two Kanganas in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ – one of them is based in London while the other hails from a village in Haryana.
The sequel to the 2011 film ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ starring ‘Queen’ Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan has been in news since its inception, regarding the casting and the plot.
While it’s confirmed that the original lead pair will be continued in this part, rumour mills have started spinning about the movie being a possible remake of the 1966 thriller ‘Mera Saaya’ starring Sunil Dutt and Sadhana.

According to a report published in mid-day.com, the twin characters of Kangana Ranaut are eerily similar to the double role played by Sadhana in the Raj Khosla film. “There are two Kanganas in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ – one of them is based in London while the other hails from a village in Haryana. The basic plot is somewhat similar to that of ‘Mera Saaya’ with a few changes made to the storyline,” states the source.
Dhanush will be seen doing a cameo in the movie, being directed by Anand Rai.
