Hyderabad city police get CCTV image enhancing software

Hyderabad City Police has been leveraging on technology as a force multiplier in its efforts to identify the criminals.

Beware! We can identify you! That is the message that Hyderabad City Police sent out on Thursday after acquiring a software that not only enhances CCTV footage of culprits involved in a crime but can also repair damaged or blurred images.

“Hyderabad City Police have recently acquired a high quality special software for enhancing the CCTV Footages for attaining clarity. The same is now available for the use of all police stations and other investigation teams / units.

This software is helpful in enhancement of clarity of persons or objects or clues available in video footages which will lead to detection. Further, the software is useful for the rectification of the damaged CCTV footages and thereby identification of suspects,” said Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy.

Hyderabad City Police has been leveraging on technology as a force multiplier in its efforts to identify the criminals. “Many cases have been successfully detected with help of CCTV footages in the recent past. However, a few cases have remained undetected due to lack of clarity in CCTV footage.

These CCTV footages containing clues have no clarity due to insufficient resolution and due to analog system. Police is unable to identify suspects or persons involved in the crime or pursue clues in such cases due to poor quality of video. This is where the image-enhancing software gives us an edge and overcome the challenges,” an official said.

All the police stations and other investigation teams can use this software, in order to establish identity of offenders or suspects secured in the CCTV footages for successful detection of earlier and current cases.

“This is another milestone in use of technology for quality policing in Hyderabad City Police” the Commissioner said.
