While New Zealand are playing fearless cricket, Australia have peaked at the right time. New Zealand will be chasing their maiden World Cup while Australia would like to win the title back after losing it to India in 2011.

Last time Australia and New Zealand played each other in an ICC tournament final was during the 2009 Champions Trophy in South Africa. In that match, New Zealand struggled while batting first and posted 200-9 in their 50 overs. With their then captain Daniel Vettori pulling out with a hamstring injury, his deputy Brendon McCullum was forced to step up as skipper. McCullum did not trouble the scorers as he got out for a duck in the fourth over.

New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum on Saturday gave his gritty side a 50-50 chance in the World Cup summit clash against Australia on Sunday and said the Black Caps will relish the big occasion and the big stadium that awaits them.

Set to retire from ODI cricket after Sunday’s World Cup final against New Zealand at the MCG, Michael Clarke on Saturday said that his legacy as Australia’s ODI captain will be determined by what his teammates thought of him and his conduct after team-mate Phillip Hughes passed away in November last.
