Giriraj again! Minister asks if Congress would accept Sonia Gandhi if she wasn’t white
Court ordered arrest of Bihar BJP leader Giriraj Singh for his alleged hate statements.
Shortly after the Lok Sabha elections, Giriraj Singh, a fiery leader of the BJP from Bihar, had infamously said that all those opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi should go to Pakistan. Today, he has made headlines again.
At a press conference, in comments that were reportedly made off-the-record, Singh asked whether the Congress would have accepted Sonia Gandhi as its party president if she wasn’t white skinned. The video containing the reported comments have been carried by television channels.

“If Rajiv Gandhi had married a Nigerian and if Sonia Gandhi wasn’t white-skinned, would Congress have accepted her as a leader,” asked Singh at the press conference. Sadly, his comments were followed by a loud chuckle indicating that those around him also enjoyed the racist comment.

Singh, who won the general elections last year from Nawada constituency in Bihar, is the Minister of State for micro, small and medium enterprises in the Narendra Modi government.
Singh’s comments have sparked outrage from Congress leaders who have unanimously condemned it.
“I think Modi has kept him in the cabinet only to make such comments. I condemn it,” said Digvijaya Singh.
