Superwoman to the Rescue
Lilly Singh aka Superwoman will arrive in India on her four-city tour in May.
Last week at the India Fashion Week in Delhi, a few known faces turned up in their finest, posed for the paparazzi and took their FROW (front row) seats. However, there was one who went completely unnoticed — Canadian YouTube sensation Lilly Singh aka Superwoman. Had she turned up as the Punjabi mother with a dupatta or as the mustached father like in all her videos, she would have had a field day with her fans.
Don’t be disheartened in case you missed her this time. The 26-year-old comedian will perform in India as part of her world tour called “A Trip to Unicorn Island”. Known most for her observations of “desi parents” abroad, Singh draws heavily from her Punjabi lineage. There are hilarious videos on topics such as “Girls on their period”, “How I clean my room”, “Types of parents”, and various spoofs of popular tracks such as Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda. She has collaborated with biggies such as James Franco, Seth Rogen and Madhuri Dixit for acts online. Last year, she released a song called #Leh with Indo-Canadian hip hop artiste Humble the Poet.
It was in 2010 that she started her YouTube page called “Superwoman”, and has more than 5,440,000 subscribers at the moment. She will perform in Kamani Auditorium in Delhi on May 21, followed by shows in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.
