Censor Board’s work has always been thankless: Paresh Rawal
While everyone is busy gossiping about the decisions of CBFC, Paresh Rawal thinks that the Censor Board’s job has always been thankless.
Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, who began his career with theatre, was humble enough to appreciate the ‘good’ work of censor board at the press conference held on Monday for his upcoming movie ‘Dharam Sankat Mein’.
The actor is in the capital with co-actor Annu Kapoor for the promotions of his upcoming film. While everyone is busy gossiping about the decisions of CBFC, Paresh Rawal thinks that the Censor Board’s job has always been thankless.
The actor said, when the board does something good, there is always someone to protest against them.
Paresh Rawal has done a variety of roles including serious roles, comedy and in the past a villain in many movies. His transformation from one character to the other has always stunned his fans, because whatever he does, he blends perfectly into that character.

When asked about his criteria of choosing films, the actor replied, “Some films are close to the heart and some are close to the pocket. So, I am keen to do the films that are close to heart, so that I do good films because I’m an actor and I want to do different roles every time. Talking about the mindset, then I must say that my beginning in this industry is through theatre and I have an experience of so many years, then I must say that every actor should have the ‘switch on switch off’ quality.”
Further talking about his character in the movie he said, “The movie is titled ‘Dharam Sankat Mein’ because my characters name is Dharampal Trivedi. You might have seen in the trailer that he thinks that he is a Hindu, but later discovers that he is not a Hindu but a Muslim by birth. His father was a Muslim, and the story moves, henceforth.”
The actor also said that he enjoys serious cinema. He said, there should be some humour but the movie should be meaningful. Paresh Rawal also said that he is still learning when he works with actors like Annu Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah.
The two actors, who will be seen together in ‘Dharam Sankat Mein’ were seen talking about their first film together ‘Sardar’, in which Paresh Rawal played the role of Sardar Vallabhai Patel and Annu Kapoor was seen as Mahatma Gandhi. They seemed happy to share screen space after so long. Talking about working with Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor said, “While working with Mr. Paresh Rawal or Mr. Naseeruddin Shah in this film or any other film has been very good.”
The movie starring Parsh Rawal, Annu Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah will hit cinemas this Friday (April 10).
