1903 Keralites rescued from strife-torn Yemen

As many as 1903 Keralites have been so far rescued from strife-torn Yemen, according to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
Chandy said the state would take necessary steps for the return of Kerala expatriates in Yemen who are willing to return. Another group of people evacuated from Yemen would reach Mumbai tonight.

“A section of nurses in Yemen could not leave the country as their hospitals were not willing to hand over their passports. Citing the war time emergency situation, these nurses are asked to report for duty. Otherwise, they are asked to go at their own risk.”
The chief minister said some expatriates working in remote regions in Yemen could not freely come out due to the war. They cannot seek the help of the Houthi radicals or the forced fight against them.
He said although the government wanted to evacuate all expatriates the state, a section still wanted to stay back due to financial constraints back home. The government cannot do anything help them, said Chandy.
