Jharkhand govt removes Deputy DC for acting in item song
The Jharkhand government on Wednesday removed the Deputy Development Commissioner of Giridih district after he was seen acting in an item song in a locally-produced film.
Dinesh Prasad was asked to report to the Department of Personnel in Ranchi after he acted in a song sequence in under-production Hindi film Chilkari – Ek Dard, loosely based on the 2011 massacre of 20 people – including former chief minister Babulal Marandi’s son – by members of the CPI-Maoist at Chilkari.
The song depicted various VIPs dancing alongside a scantily-clad woman. While the roles of the likes of local MLA and DGP were portrayed by professional actors – from nearby villages, Ranchi and West Bengal – Prasad acted as a corrupt DDC. “He participated in the filming as he is enthusiastic about the craft,” said Brajmohan Turi, the producer of the film who hails from Giridih. “His part was shot on Monday and someone leaked it. Thankfully, shooting has continued uninterrupted,” said Turi.
Giridih’s Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Verma said that Prasad had not taken permission to act in the film. “I don’t think any other government employee took part,” he said.
