Uproar over Andhra, Telangana encounters: Rajnath speaks to Naidu, KCR
Rajnath Singh spoke to Telangana Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao about the killing of five alleged terrorists in Warangal.
The Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday sought detailed reports from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over a couple of controversial encounters in the two states. Also, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Telangana Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao about the killing of five alleged terrorists in Warangal, and discussed with Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu the gunning down of 20 suspected red sanders smugglers in Chittor.
The MHA has asked the Telangana government to explain the circumstances which led to the encounter of five alleged terror operatives, including Viqaruddin Ahmed alias Viqar — founder of local militant group Tehreek-Ghalba-e-Islam, a senior official said. The police have so far maintained that they were trying to escape while being taken to a court in Hyderabad.

The incident claimed to have occurred when Viqaruddin and his associates snatched weapons and tried to attack the policemen escorting them to a court in Hyderabad from Warangal Central Prison.
Amid raging controversy over another encounter — the killing of 20 alleged red sanders smugglers in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittor district, Chief Minister Naidu briefed Singh about the incident and the action taken by the state government in this regard.
During their telephonic conversation Tuesday night, Naidu explained to the Home Minister the circumstances leading to the killing of the 20 red sanders “smugglers” by the Andhra Pradesh Police, official sources said.
Twenty people were gunned down in Chittoor in a police operation said to be against red sanders smugglers. The action came under severe attack from the government and political parties in Tamil Nadu which claimed 12 of the victims were labourers from their state.
