Today’s big releases: ‘Ek Paheli Leela’, ‘Dharam Sankat Mein’
Sunny Leone’s ‘Ek Paheli Leela’, Paresh Rawal and Naseeruddin Shah’s ‘Dharam Sankat Mein’ and Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘Broken Horses’.
As many as three different kind of movies release today (April 10) – Sunny Leone’s ‘Ek Paheli Leela’, Paresh Rawal and Naseeruddin Shah’s ‘Dharam Sankat Mein’ and Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘Broken Horses’.
‘Ek Paheli Leela’ stars former adult film star Sunny Leone in the titular lead role with Jay Bhanushali, Rajneesh Duggal, Jas Arora, Mohit Ahlawat and Rahul Dev in pivotal roles. And as one would expect, the movie has all the masala for it to make it the Box Office topper. But will it? That’s the question.
Sunny Leone’s movies have always acquired good opening at the Box Office, so ‘Leela’ is also expected to fare well. But what remains to be seen is how good it fares in the following days. The movie has been promoted well and that has helped it gain awareness amongst the audiences.
On the other hand, there is ‘Dharam Sankat Mein’, a far cry from Sunny Leone kind of movies. Considering the cast that boasts of Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah and Annu Kapoor, the movie can be high on content but the promotions have been a downer. Only a good word of mouth can do the movie some good.
The third release of this weekend is Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘Broken Horses’, which has earned itself the stature of being the first Hollywood movie to be written, directed and produced by an Indian. ‘Broken Horses’, set in the shadows of US-Mexico border gang wars, is an epic thriller about bonds of brotherhood, laws of loyalty and futility of violence. The movie has a stellar cast comprising of Vincent DOnofrio, Anton Yelchin, Chris Marquette and Maria Valverde.
