As political parties and people across the nation celebrate the 124th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, one of India’s most important and charismatic leaders, Google search trends reflects his timeless relevance and popularity and shows him to be the 3rd most searched historic personality, after Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru.

Dr Ambedkar takes the third spot after Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru in terms of search queries online. In terms of search interest from within India, queries on him continues to gain significant search interest from states such as Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh followed by Maharashtra, Delhi, Pondicherry, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Karnataka.
Among the various leaders who have contributed to the development of modern India, Dr. Ambedkar’s work as the nation’s first Law Minister and subsequently as the Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee, charged by the Assembly to write independent India’s new Constitution, has been second to none.
The only leaders who have been more searched on Google more than Dr. Ambedkar are Mahatma Gandhi followed by the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. Other personalities in the pantheon of India’s iconic leaders of the 20th century include Subhash Chandra Bose and Vallabhbhai Patel, both of who also figure on Google search trends but rank lower than the previous three leaders.
Searches for Subhas Chandra Bose remain extremely popular on Google. He attracts the highest search queries from West Bengal followed closely by Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Pondicherry, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel another iconic leader in Indian history leads with searches from Gujarat followed by Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh.
Google also paid a special tribute to Dr B R Ambedkar on its homepage with a special ‘Doodle’ that has appeared across 7 countries that has already garnered over 500,000 hits so far.
