The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) started their campaign positively with a win against the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Garden and on Monday they begin the first of three consecutive home games at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Their opponents the Hyderabad Sunrisers meanwhile had a poor start, conceding 209 against the Chennai Super Kings and then eventually fell 45 runs short. However, the fact that RCB have a weakened bowling attack and that their batting — with the exception of Chris Gayle — hasn’t fired, will give the visitors some confidence.

Chris Gayle hammered the Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers into submission with a breathtaking 96 that guided Royal Challengers Bangalore to a three-wicket victory in an Indian Premier League encounter on Saturday.
Chasing a victory target of 178, Gayle single-handedly tore apart the home team attack as his 56 ball innings had seven boundaries and an equal number of sixes as the five-pronged KKR spin attack was taken to cleaners.
