At the end of day 2 of the CPM party congress, General Secretary Prakash Karat has expressed concern over the party’s lack of growth in the last 25 years and spoke about the need to adopt flexible tactics to remain relevant.
Karat at a press conference in Vishakapatnam also said that the party failed to break the paradigm of Congress and BJP benefitting from each other’s loss in elections.
The party general secretary admitted that it was mistake to try and form a third alternative and ruled out projecting any national alliance in the future.
“We want to form a powerful alternative force against bourgeois parties, it has nothing to do with elections,” said Karat.
CPI(M) are trying to replace the attempt to build a third alternative with a Left Demo alternative, Karat said.
He also took a swipe at the BJP saying that “We don’t build party membership through messages and missed calls”.
