After having dealt with issues like women empowerment, Havells Electronics has come up with another powerful ad slamming the sexism that has crept into film certification.

The ad starts with two CBFC officials discussing whether the movie they watched should be given an ‘A’ certificate or ‘U’. While the first person says calls for ‘U’ and states that it’s a family movie, another member suggests an ‘A’ certificate as the movie has many nude scenes. “Ladki karey toh nude, ladka karey toh dude…,” he asks with an epic smirk.
Recently, movies like ‘Badlapur’, ‘NH10′ and ‘Alone’ among others have been under the Censor Board’s scanner for scenes involving either violence or love-making. Filmmakers, lately, have started objecting to such “dictatorial” rules by the CBFC. The Censor Board members too have shown disharmony amongst each other with member Ashoke Pandit calling chief Pahlaj Nihalani “anarchist” twice on Twitter.
The ad seeks an equal look on shots featuring men and women, something that could limit the scope of some top actors. Going by the initial reponse to the ad, it could end up being one of the most powerful ads in recent times.
Guess, it’s time to change the rules, but kya #HawaBadalegi?
