Priyanka Chopra to wear 85 nauvaris in ‘Bajirao Mastani’
Priyanka Chopra, who plays the role of Ranveer Singh’s sister in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, will be seen in a typical Maharashtrian avatar in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
Priyanka Chopra, who plays the role of Ranveer Singh‘s sister in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do‘, will be playing the role of his first wife Kashibai in the magnum opus ‘Bajirao Mastani’. The film, that depicts the era of the Maratha rule, will have Priyanka in a typical Maharashtrian avatar.
Considering that the film is a period drama, the former beauty queen will be seen donning traditional avatar which will comprise of nauvaris (Maharashtrian nine yard sarees). Moreover, she will also be wearing heavy jewellery which includes a nose ring called the ‘nath’. Anju Modi, who has styled Priyanka Chopra’s look in the film, mentioned that she travelled to various locations like Ajanta-Ellora caves and Paithan in Aurangabad (famous for Paithani sarees) in order to create the perfect look of Kashibai. She also visited Shivaji Museum in Pune to research on the kind of jewellery to use for the film.

Keeping in mind the role that Priyanka Chopra will be playing in the film which is that of a confident and strong woman, Anju decided to use bright colours like marigold yellow, varied shades of pink, blood red, ivory among others. Modi also picked up different kinds of nathnis and shelas.
Directed and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali in association with Eros International, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ has Ranveer Singh playing the role of Peshwa Baji Rao and Deepika Padukone as Mastani.
