15-year-old boy killed in J&K’s Narbal as security forces open fire on protesters
On a day when separatists in the Valley called for a day-long strike against the arrest of Masarat Alam, CRPF opened fire on a group of protestors killing a 15-year-old boy and injuring two others at Ghat Narbal on Srinagar – Gulmarg road.
The boy has been identified as Suhail Ahmad. Two other people were also injured in the firing. Locals said that CRPF jawans opened fire on the protestors without any provocation though there are reports of stone pelting.

Earlier in the day, protests had sparked in Narbal, Palhallan and Khaniyar areas and security personnel had to use tear gas shells to disperse the protestors.
Medical Superintendent of Jehlum Valley Hospital told The Indian Express that the young boy was brought dead at the hospital. “The boy was already dead when he was examined by the doctors,” he added.
Station House Officer Magam said that fire was opened by the jawans of 54 battalion of the CRPF. “After the death of the youth, situation is tense,” he said.
Separatists have called for a day-long strike against the arrest of Alam. Meanwhile, Alam has been sent to a seven-day police custody. The Valley is witnessing a complete shut down.
