This govt is for the poor, and we need to spread this message: PM Modi to BJP MPs
The Prime Minister made the comments at a workshop organised for all BJP MPs to help spread the message on the government’s pro-farmer policy.
Even as Rahul Gandhi is all set to hold a ‘Kisan rally’ for the farmers at the Ramlila Maidan over the controversial land acquisition bill, the Prime Minister today sent out a strong message to his party’s MPs that they must spread the word that the NDA government was for the poor.
The Prime Minister made the comments at a workshop organised for all BJP MPs to help spread the message on the government’s pro-farmer policy.
PM Modi attacked the opposition for being bitter and said that they were trying to project the government as anti-poor on issue of land acquisition bill. “Lies are being spread on land bill by ‘perverted minds’. Some people have decided not to speak, see or hear anything good about our government,” he said.
“Trust the public and no one else,” the PM told the BJP MPs.
“If I blame the previous government for leaving the poor of this country homeless, am I wrong,” he asked. “We are doing everything to provide basic things to the poor in our country, is this wrong?”
“During my government, Wholesale Price inflation, Consumer Price Inflation and Food inflation have all fallen. WPI has been the lowest in March 2015, this is beneficial for the poor. Food inflation was only 6 percent in January,” the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister also emphasised on how the government is concerned about the farmers, and the losses they have faced due to the recent hailstorms.
He said that the government was working for the farmers and that those who had faced over 33 per cent crop loss will be eligible for compensation. PM Modi also mentioned that the government will buy the damaged crops from the farmers to help them.
In his speech, the PM also praised Sushma Swaraj and General VK Singh for their efforts in Operation Rahat, which led to the rescue of Indian nationals in war-torn Yemen.
“At 1 in the night, Sushma Swaraj tweeted to those who were stranded in Yemen. Could you have imagined India’s Ministry of External Affairs working like before,” he asked.
The PM also spoke about the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” and said that this was aimed at the daughters of the poor in India, the dalits and tribals, whose daughters were still uneducated.
Speaking on the Canada Uranium deal, he mentioned that India has been a nuclear-dependent nation, but with the deal, India will enter the next level of development.
