Cricketer suffers head injury, is stable

Calcutta Police Club player Rahul Ghosh suffered a head injury during their CAB second-division championship semifinal play-off game against Vijay Sports Club at the Videocon cricket school ground, Salt Lake, on Tuesday. The incident occurred a day after East Bengal cricketer Ankit Keshri’s tragic deathon Monday.

Ghosh was taken to a private hospital where a CT scan showed a tiny blood clot in the brain.

An MRI was done and a three-member medical board has decided that Ghosh does not require surgery and is stable.

Incidentally, it is the same hospital where Keshri breathed his last.

Ghosh was fielding at cover and dived forward to take a half-chance. “The ball bounced awkwardly, got deflected off his hand and hit the temple.

“He apparently looked okay, for he didn’t lose consciousness and was talking normally. But he was sent to hospital for a precautionary MRI and CT scan,” Vijay Sports official Sreedhar Nagesh informed. Ghosh, had complained of nausea.
