Eight injured rescued, 33 bodies recovered: numbers so far by NDRF

The magnitude of 7.9 Richter scale earthquake, which was having its epicenter at Lumzung about 114 Km away from Kathmandu capital of Nepal has originated worst tremor to hit Nepal as well as neighboring countries such as Northern India, Bangladesh, Tibet and Pakistan. This earthquake has been worst in 80 years. So far about 2200 death have been reported in Nepal and more than 60 deaths have been reported in India. In the time to come, in couple of days, the death toll is likely to rise up.
Seven Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams of NDRF which had been deployed in Nepal at Places like Lalitpur, Baktapur and Division valley. All these locations are with in range of 10-12 Kms from the capital Kathmandu. NDRF teams have carried out the “Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operation since its deployment in Nepal from yesterday. So far 8 live victims have been rescued by the NDRF from under the debris. In addition, 33 dead bodies have been retrieved by the NDRF personnel from under the debris.
Four USAR teams of NDRF which were deployed in the Northern Bihar in Supaul, Motihari, Darbhanga and Gopalganj have carried out HADR operations in these districts but their operation activities are over and are stand by there with the district authorities. 01 USAR teams is stand by at Gorakhpur also.
Three USAR teams from Palam airport were airlifted at 1220 hrs and have landed at Kathmandu airport. 03 USAR teams from 09 Bn NDRF Patna have been mobilised to Nepal from Motihari, Supaul and Patna.
R K Rana DIG NDRF has left to Kathmandu today morning to supervise the HADR operation. In addition to above, USAR teams at NDRF locations at Mundali, Bhuwaneshwar, Gandhinagar and Patna have been kept stand by and to move at short notice for deployment.
